As of the 1st July 2015 all Rolex watches supplied with a Green Swing Tag (as opposed to a red one) will receive a 5 year International Warranty on their watch. As an addition, and perhaps to stifle complaints from relatively recent purchases, all watches dated from 01/07/2013 to 30/06/2015 will receive an additional 1 year extension on top of their current 2 year warranty.

This is a big leap from Rolex and perhaps is a long time coming given that both Omega and Rolex currently offer significantly longer warranty periods than some of the other major brands out there. It is often seen, within the car trade especially, that an increased warranty period of a significant amount of time goes a long way to reflect the brands own faith in itself. The letter below shows the announcement from Rolex to all their dealers and also makes a brief mention of its stance on aftersales. Rolex state that their 2 year service warranty remains the same but go on to mention “the typical time frame between service intervals has grown to approximately ten years”.

What customers should be acutely aware of is that this is not Rolex saying that you should wait ten years to send your watch away for a service. As far as we can tell, the recommendation of 3-5 year service interval remains it is merely an observation Rolex have gained of their customer aftersales habits.
